At Stone Hill School, we believe that the History Curriculum is a fundamental part of pupils’ education. Our history curriculum encourages pupils to form a strong dialogue with the past. They will thus develop an understanding of their place in the wider world and gain invaluable cultural capital. The History curriculum aims to foster learning behaviours and skills which will support pupils on their learning journey through school and into adult life. Our curriculum intends to bring history to life for all of our pupils. The range of topics cover Local, European and World history. The topics have been carefully selected in light of their relevance to our pupils and to what is happening in the wider world. They are designed to spark pupils’ curiosity to strike comparisons between the past and the present. They also aim to support pupils to understand how history has helped to shape their lives and the lives of others. Through tangible and meaningful learning experiences, our curriculum intends to help pupils know more, do more and remember more.
